SCANNED 19 OCTOBER 2026 · SHOPIFY · 23 PAGES CHECKED (18 PRODUCT, 4 COLLECTION)

17 things to fix, 3 of them high priority.

This report checks how clearly your product pages tell search engines and AI shopping assistants what you sell, what it costs and whether it is in stock, and whether those crawlers are allowed in. It reads public pages only.

What to fix, in order

FIX FIRST

01

1 search or AI shopping crawler is blocked

FIX FIRSTAI ACCESSWHOLE STORE

Why it matters. Blocked in robots.txt: PerplexityBot. A blocked crawler can't read your products, so it can't recommend them.

How to fix it. Shopify serves robots.txt from a template (Online Store → Themes → Edit code → Add a new template → robots.txt). Remove the Disallow lines that block the listed crawlers, and check any app that edits it.

02

Price currency is missing

FIX FIRSTPRODUCT DATA6 OF 15 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. A price with no currency can be misread, so shopping systems often ignore it.

How to fix it. Add priceCurrency (a three-letter code such as USD, INR, GBP) to the offer. A price without a currency can be misread, so many shopping systems ignore it.

EXAMPLES: /products/p6 · /products/p9 · /products/p12

03

Product pages have no Product markup

FIX FIRSTPRODUCT DATA2 OF 17 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Without Product markup, search engines and AI shopping tools have to guess your price, stock and details from the page design. Stores with clean markup are easier for them to quote.

How to fix it. Most current Shopify themes print Product markup through the theme code (look for structured_data in the product template: Online Store → Themes → Edit code). If yours does not, the theme may be old or the line was removed. Add it back, or paste the ready markup from this report into the product template. Run only one source of Product markup: two apps or a theme plus an app can output duplicates.

EXAMPLES: /products/p4 · /products/p16

FIX NEXT

04

No Organization or Store markup on the homepage

FIX NEXTAI ACCESSWHOLE STORE

Why it matters. This is how a store states its name, logo and contact details to machines. Missing facts are filled in by guesswork.

How to fix it. Add Organization (or Store) markup to your homepage: legal/trading name, logo, URL, contact details and links to your real social profiles. It helps AI tools recognise who you are and keeps your facts consistent.

05

Several product pages share the same title

FIX NEXTTECHNICAL BASICS17 OF 17 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Identical titles make products hard to tell apart in search and in AI answers.

How to fix it. Several pages share the same title. Give each product its own title so search engines and AI tools can tell them apart.

EXAMPLES: /products/p1 · /products/p2 · /products/p4

06

Stock status (availability) is missing

FIX NEXTPRODUCT DATA6 OF 15 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Assistants avoid recommending items they can't confirm are in stock.

How to fix it. Add availability to the offer using a schema.org value such as https://schema.org/InStock or https://schema.org/OutOfStock, driven by your stock status. AI shopping answers avoid recommending items they cannot confirm are available.

EXAMPLES: /products/p6 · /products/p9 · /products/p12

07

Product image is missing from markup

FIX NEXTPRODUCT DATA6 OF 15 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Product listings and AI answers with pictures need an image URL they can read.

How to fix it. Add at least one product image URL to the markup. Use a clean, large product photo (not a logo).

EXAMPLES: /products/p6 · /products/p9 · /products/p12

08

Product description is missing from markup

FIX NEXTPRODUCT DATA6 OF 15 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. A real description gives AI tools something accurate to quote about your product.

How to fix it. Add the product description to the markup, written for a customer (what it is, materials, size, who it is for). Thin or missing descriptions give AI tools nothing to quote.

EXAMPLES: /products/p6 · /products/p9 · /products/p12

09

No SKU, GTIN or MPN

FIX NEXTPRODUCT DATA6 OF 15 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Identifiers let shopping systems tell products apart and match yours to a catalogue entry.

How to fix it. In the Shopify admin open each product → Variants and fill in SKU and Barcode (GTIN/UPC/EAN/ISBN). Most themes output both.

EXAMPLES: /products/p6 · /products/p9 · /products/p12

10

Brand is missing from markup

FIX NEXTPRODUCT DATA6 OF 15 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Brand is one of the first things assistants use to group and compare products.

How to fix it. Set the Vendor field on each product. Most themes use it as the brand in markup.

EXAMPLES: /products/p6 · /products/p9 · /products/p12

11

Meta descriptions are missing

FIX NEXTTECHNICAL BASICS4 OF 22 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Search engines and AI tools use the description to understand what a page offers.

How to fix it. Write a unique meta description of roughly 70 to 170 characters for each product and collection page. Say what it is and why someone would want it.

EXAMPLES: /collections/boots · /collections/packs · /collections/tents

12

Some pages returned errors

FIX NEXTAI ACCESS1 OF 22 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Dead or erroring URLs in your sitemap or links waste crawler time and signal a neglected site.

How to fix it. Some URLs in your sitemap or links returned errors. Remove dead URLs from the sitemap, redirect discontinued products to the nearest category, and fix server errors.

EXAMPLES: /products/p7

WHEN YOU CAN

13

No review or rating markup

WHEN YOU CANPRODUCT DATA15 OF 15 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Genuine reviews are a strong trust signal in shopping answers. Only mark up reviews that real customers wrote.

How to fix it. Only if you collect genuine customer reviews: output them as rating and review markup from your review tool's settings. Never add ratings that customers did not give, since search engines can penalise it.

EXAMPLES: /products/p1 · /products/p2 · /products/p6

14

Shipping and returns are not in the markup

WHEN YOU CANPRODUCT DATA15 OF 15 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Shipping cost, delivery time and returns are often shown next to products in Google's listings and are a common reason shoppers choose one store over another.

How to fix it. State shipping and returns on the product page and, where your platform supports it, in the markup. In Google Merchant Center you can also set shipping and returns in the account settings, which Google reads for free product listings.

EXAMPLES: /products/p1 · /products/p2 · /products/p6

15

No llms.txt (optional)

WHEN YOU CANAI ACCESSWHOLE STORE

Why it matters. An optional, emerging file that gives AI tools a short summary of your store. Not required.

How to fix it. Optional: an llms.txt file gives AI tools a short, curated summary of your store and your best pages. It is an emerging convention, not a requirement.

16

Many images have no alt text

WHEN YOU CANTECHNICAL BASICS17 OF 17 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Alt text helps accessibility, image search and AI tools that describe images.

How to fix it. Add short alt text to product images, describing what is in the picture. It helps accessibility, image search and AI tools that read images.

EXAMPLES: /products/p1 · /products/p2 · /products/p4

17

Share image (og:image) is missing

WHEN YOU CANTECHNICAL BASICS5 OF 22 PAGES CHECKED

Why it matters. Links to your products look plain when shared, and some AI tools use this image.

How to fix it. Add an Open Graph image (og:image) so shared links and some AI tools show your product photo.

EXAMPLES: / · /collections/boots · /collections/packs

Ready-to-paste product markup

Starting points built from what we could read on your own pages. Anything we could not read is left as a REPLACE_WITH_… placeholder: fill it in with your real value or remove that line. We never invent prices, stock, identifiers or reviews.

One source only. If your theme or an app already outputs Product markup, add the missing fields there instead of pasting a second block. Two Product blocks on one page confuse crawlers.

What this report cannot check

An automated scan of public pages is a strong start, not the whole picture. These need a person or your own accounts:

  • Whether your Google Merchant Center feed is approved, and any disapproved items there
  • Errors Google reports in Search Console for your products
  • What ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity actually say about your products today
  • Real page speed for shoppers, and Core Web Vitals
  • The quality and honesty of your reviews, and your brand mentions across the web
