How to get your Shopify products into ChatGPT

SHORT ANSWER

On Shopify you may not need an app or integration: Shopify says Agentic Storefronts is enabled automatically for eligible stores and makes products available to ChatGPT, Copilot and the Shop app through Shopify Catalog. Whether an assistant then picks your product depends on your product data: clear titles, full descriptions, good images, correct prices and stock.

In March 2026 Shopify announced that its merchants could start selling to ChatGPT users, and in May 2026 it gave Agentic Storefronts its own page in the Shopify admin. Here is what Shopify says, how to check your own store, and what is still up to you.

What Shopify says

On 24 March 2026, Shopify said merchants could start selling to ChatGPT users that week. It named ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, AI Mode in Google Search and the Gemini app as channels, and said only select brands were selling in AI Mode and the Gemini app so far.
For ChatGPT, Shopify said products are discoverable by default, with no separate integrations or apps, and no transaction fees beyond standard processing rates.
On 11 May 2026, Shopify's developer changelog said Agentic Storefronts now has its own page in the admin, at admin.shopify.com/agentic, and that products are automatically available to ChatGPT, Shop and Copilot through Shopify Catalog.

Check your store in five minutes

Open admin.shopify.com/agentic while signed in to your store and see whether Agentic Storefronts is active and which channels are listed.
Look at the catalog insights Shopify shows, such as description completeness and image coverage, and fix the products with the biggest gaps first.
In a fresh ChatGPT chat, ask the questions a shopper would ask for your product type, and note which stores and products appear.

Available is not the same as recommended

Shopify says its Catalog structures product data so AI can find and surface products. That means the data you enter is what the assistant has to work with when it decides what to show. Thin listings lose to complete ones.

Titles that say what the item is, plus the details people search for: material, size, use or compatible models.
Descriptions that answer a shopper's questions: who it is for, how it fits, what is included, care, delivery and returns.
Complete variants, prices and stock, and identifiers such as GTIN where you have them.
Several clear images per product.
Reviews and mentions on other sites, which give an assistant something to trust beyond your own claims.

Not on Shopify?

Shopify says brands that do not use it for e-commerce can use its Agentic plan to add products to Shopify Catalog. OpenAI says ChatGPT uses structured product data from merchants and third-party providers, and Google uses Merchant Center product data. This area changes every few months, so check each platform's current rules before you build anything.
